Fashion of White

A Fresh Start, A New Colour

This Christmas is set to be a chilly one; with snow falling and icicles clinging to almost everything, it really is turning into a winter wonderland out there. Fashion gurus are pulling on the chunky knits and wrapping in luxurious fur coats, not to mention sporting the new headgear this winter – the headband.

There are many new styles and looks to go for in party wear this season, but what about the crossover between Christmas, and the welcoming of the New Year? Surely we should be seen in something not too old, but something fresh, that will open up the eyes of the party guests and bring in a whirl of crisp new design that lures 2011 in with a smile?

The start of a new year, the start of a new fashion trend, introducing bold block white. Not something to be afraid of, something to whisk up and drape over your body in your own personalised way, incorporating textures and cuts into the mix. The new white is like turning a fresh page in your wardrobe. It’s pure, simplistic bliss.

Who’s Rocking It?

So who’s wearing it? Leigh Lezark is a perfect example. Take how she uses her strikingly dark features and contrasts them with soft layers of feathers and white lace in the dress to put emphasis on her facial features.

Emma Watson also drapes herself in long lengths of white; subtle pleats in the fabric allow for a little decoration but not so much that it becomes too much. Styling with a subtle smoky eye also adds a sense of allure to a tonally white outfit.

How To Rock It

What to incorporate into the icy white look? If your one for unexpected surprises, layer up subtly with a mixture of lace, feather and bloc white materials. This allows for the eye to travel and adds a girly edge to the colour.

If you’re more of a chic girl, look for tailored edges and unusual fabrics; a long legged trouser is bang on trend for next season, not to mention a silk blouse. A white shirt with a good collar on is also brilliant for this trend, it oozes tectonic, ice cool sensuality; button to the top and wear with heels and some glossy tights to really spark up the outfit.
